Your Role: UK Health and Safety Manager




This role follows a hybrid working model, covering the UK and includes regular travel to our branches and Support Centre.

The position also requires two days per week working from our Stevenage office.



As UK Health & Safety Manager, you'll be the key guardian of safety across our business, from our retail branches to our central operations. You'll develop, implement and continuously improve our health and safety frameworks to ensure a safe and compliant working environment for all eurochange colleagues and customers.


Your Responsibilities:




Strategy & Compliance




Lead the UK Health & Safety strategy, ensuring alignment to eurochange's commercial objectives and UK legal standards. Own and maintain our Health & Safety Policy, ensuring it reflects latest legislative updates and best practice. Manage regulatory compliance across all UK sites, including retail branches, support centre, and cash centres. Prepare and submit required documentation to regulators and internal stakeholders.

Risk Management & Incident Oversight




Conduct and maintain comprehensive fire risk assessments across all locations, ensuring full regulatory compliance. Manage our central reporting system (My Compliance) for accidents, near-misses, and audit actions. Lead thorough incident investigations, ensuring root cause analysis and follow-up actions are implemented. Track performance metrics and use data to identify risk trends and opportunities for improvement.

Training & Development




Design and run health and safety training sessions for all levels, including induction, refresher, and specialist compliance topics. Create accessible content for digital and face-to-face learning, promoting best practice and awareness. Support line managers and regional teams in meeting local compliance and H&S responsibilities. Deliver fire safety, first aid, and emergency response training where required.

Partner & Contractor Oversight




Oversee health and safety compliance for external suppliers and contractors. Review and approve RAMS, permits to work, and contractor credentials. Work closely with Real Estate and Maintenance teams to ensure safe delivery of branch refits and refurbishments. Monitor contractor performance and carry out on-site audits to ensure alignment with eurochange standards.

Audit & Reporting




Lead a programme of planned and ad hoc H&S audits, producing reports with clear actions and timelines. Maintain accurate records across all areas of compliance, including fire safety, risk assessments, and accident reporting. Provide regular performance updates to the Operations Director and ExecCo, highlighting risks, trends, and improvement opportunities. Collaborate with Internal Audit to align H&S with broader assurance activities.

About you:




You're a health and safety champion with deep technical knowledge, strong people skills, and a drive for continuous improvement. You understand how to make safety meaningful and relevant to colleagues on the ground, translating complex regulations into clear, practical action. You're confident delivering training, challenging risk, and keeping everyone informed and accountable.


Desired Experience and Skills




NEBOSH General Certificate (essential); NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (desirable) Experience in a multi-site or retail environment (travel, logistics, or financial services preferred) Demonstrable success in managing and reducing workplace risk Strong working knowledge of UK H&S legislation, including fire safety, RIDDOR, COSHH, and contractor safety Confident in delivering in-person and virtual training sessions Experienced in using compliance reporting systems (e.g. My Compliance or similar) Excellent written and verbal communication skills Skilled in influencing and coaching across levels and departments
