Experienced

care assistant required for a 43 bedded Nursing Home in Norden, Rochdale.

Successful applicants are required to provide an enhanced disclosure. Disclosure expense will be met by applicant.

The position is full time offering 30 hours a week with the ability to pick up overtime if available.

Job description

Duties include the following and other tasks as required.

General bed making - to include the use of bed cradles, cot sides and special mattresses.

Serving residents meals - including setting trays for residents who may wish to eat in their own rooms and also ensuring that residents have the correct utensils, e.g. plate guard, large grip spoons.

Feeding residents as required.

Keeping dietary and fluid intake charts up to date.

Cleaning of equipment such as wheelchairs, commodes etc.

Moving and handling of residents. Taking into account health and safety legislation and training regarding moving and handling of residents, use of hoists when necessary.

Bathing and washing of residents, at all times remembering to maintain resident's dignity and privacy selecting the appropriate bath/shower for each resident.

Dressing of resident, always ensuring that where possible residents have a choice in their clothing/jewellery etc.

Assisting residents in relation to using the toilet or commode.

Understanding the needs of each resident in relation to promotion of continence, i.e. the correct use of pads, convenes and catheters.

Carrying out escort duties as directed by the nurse in charge.

Assisting residents with mouth care - i.e. cleaning resident's teeth and dentures when necessary.

Assisting the trained nurse in the monitoring and treatment of pressure sores.

Weighing residents when required.

Stimulation therapy for residents.
