We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Healthcare Assistant (HCA) or Nurse Associate (NA)to join our friendly and supportive General Practice team. As an HCA in a GP setting, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and supporting the clinical team in the day-to-day running of the practice.
Working under the guidance of the nursing team and GPs, you will carry out a range of clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, blood pressure monitoring, ECGs, health checks, vaccinations (if trained), dressings and assisting with chronic disease management. You will also contribute to the overall patient experience by providing reassurance, health promotion advice, and practical support throughout their visit.
This role is ideal for someone with previous HCA experience, preferably in primary care or community health, who is enthusiastic, organised, and committed to making a difference in the lives of patients
This is a part-time role working Mondays and Fridays, 08:0016:00
Main duties of the job
To support the practice nursing and administrative teams in the delivery of clinical and administrative services, working as part of the practice multi-disciplinary team, delivering care within their scope of practice to the entitled patient population.
They will deliver and assist clinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, health promotion and patient education whilst also supporting the administrative team on an as-required basis.

The following are the core responsibilities of the Healthcare Assistant. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
a. Undertake new patient health checks
b. Support the practice nurse with health promotion programmes
c. Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature and pulse rate, recording findings accurately
d. Facilitate routine a BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly
e. Undertake wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required
f. Support the practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics
g. Carry out BMI checks as directed
h. Act as a chaperone as required
i. Undertake venepuncture
j. When trained, administer flu vaccinations
k. When trained, carry out ear irrigation under the supervision of the practice nurse

m. Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
n. Provide support during minor operations as required
