Job Title - Health, Safety & Environmental Officer

Reports to - General Manager

Location - All Tobermore locations

Working hours - Monday to Friday 08.30am - 17.00pm

About the role

Key duties

The following list constitutes the key tasks and duties of your post upon which your job performance will be assessed. Tasks are not in particular order, therefore the sequence which they appear should not be interpreted as indicating priority or relative importance.

Have a duty to care to all staff to ensure their health and safety is always your priority.

Ensure the business is fully compliant with all relevant Health & Safety legislation, ensuring the correct policies and procedures are in place and they are embedded into the business.

Ensure the business is fully compliant with all relevant Environmental legislation, ensuring the correct policies and procedures are in place and they are embedded into the business.

Review and assess documentation related to health and safety identifying areas for improvement and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Provide training and support to all staff with reference to Health, Safety and Environmental processes as and when required.

Deliver health and safety inductions for new employees or contractors.

Organise health and safety training with external providers as per the company training schedule.

Ensure that all contractors comply with Tobermore health, safety & environmental policies at all times.

Carry out regular Workplace Inspections identifying risks and recommend the appropriate control measures.

Carry out Risk Assessments as per the audit schedule.

Participate in relevant project teams who are tasked with key health, safety & environmental work.

Participate in meetings with relevant stakeholders to discuss health and safety issues, provide updates and develop strategies for improvement.

Carry out accident and incident investigations and ensure they are completed as per company processes.

Deliver toolbox talks as and when required.

Complete and update COSHH assessments when and where required.

Provide assistance with any visits from HSE, local authority or auditors as required.

Carry out any other such reasonable job-related tasks as the company may require you to undertake from time to time.

Required Criteria

  • NEBOSH Health & Safety Certificate or IOSH Level 3 General Certificate.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or construction safety role.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Flexibility to provide support to both day and night shift teams.
  • 2+ years\' experience.
  • Pro-active and motivated.
  • Must hold a current driving licence.
Desired Criteria
  • Experience working on Health & Safety Management System ISO45001.
  • IT proficient.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • Ability to record and produce accurate information with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and conflicting priorities.
  • A commitment to continuous learning.
  • Excellent timekeeping.
  • First Aid trained.
