We're looking for an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor to join our team delivering critical work on decarbonisation retrofit projects within the Southeast. This is a key role supporting the safe and sustainable delivery of multiple retrofit projects.
As Health & Safety Advisor, you'll work closely with site teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to uphold the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance on complex and fast-paced retrofit projects.
The role requires that you attend occasional training courses, conferences, and meetings that may necessitate staying away from home overnight.
Key Areas of Responsibility and Accountability:
Promote a proactive safety culture across all levels of site operations
Conduct site inspections, audits, and toolbox talks
Provide practical HSE advice to project teams
Support incident investigations and corrective actions
Monitor and report HSE performance against KPIs
Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and environmental legislation
Lead on risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), and safe systems of work, and make sure all employees understand their responsibilities
Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, and internal stakeholders
Maintain, update and create standard operating procedures and assist in the implementation of continuous improvement safety projects
Ensure all health & safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to, regularly reviewed, updated and communicated
Ensure the Company meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting
Complete regular reviews of work equipment and operations
Ensure that all accidents are documented, investigated and recommend improvements
Conduct safety inspections and ensure fire drills and fire alarm tests are properly reported.
Manage lone working procedures
Conduct health & safety training throughout the company and maintain and audit health and safety and training records
Order and monitor PPE stock
Regularly review controlled documents alongside the Compliance Officer
Essential Requirements:
NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (essential)
Tech IOSH or higher (GradIOSH/CMIOSH desirable)
Proven experience in a retrofit construction role - preferably on multiple property projects
Familiarity with retrofit & decarbonisation standards and processes (preferred)
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to multiple sites across the South East of England
