Job Description

Purpose of the Role




Management and provision of health & safety and fire safety requirements for the centre, ensuring compliance standards are achieved and maintained in association with all relevant legislation, guidance, best practice and centre and managing agent policy requirements in relation to the property and activities undertaken.


The role forms part of the duty management rota, working evenings and weekends on a rota basis as required by the business.


To provide exceptional Customer Service to customers, retailers and visitors.


Key Responsibilities




To be the lead on health, safety and fire safety matters to support the centre in ensuring that it achieves and remains compliant to all relevant legislation, guidance, best practice and centre and managing agents policy requirements, ensuring that the health, safety and fire management system is effectively maintained. Ensure that health safety and fire safety matters are managed on a proactive basis and take the lead role in preparing for and assisting with third party audits. Ensure that all training needs are identified in accordance with the managing agents health and safety training pathways and the centres specific requirements, that training is completed by all relevant stakeholders and that training records are logged and kept up to date. Ensure that landlord duties are maintained in relation to landlord managed areas and ensure tenant relationships are upheld to ensure of good levels of cooperation and communication between parties in the interest of good health and safety and fire safety management. Ensure the readiness of all fire safety systems and provisions within the centre, own and maintain the fire strategy and fire risk assessment, identify risk with the retailer's areas and work to ensure remedial issues are resolved. Take ownership of centre specific health and safety, water hygiene risk assessments and other risk assessments that may be required, ensuring that they are completed on time and that actions are completed in a timely fashion in accordance with the risk assessors recommendations. Ensure task specific risk assessments are completed and kept up to date to cover all work activities undertaken on site. Ensure also that these are communicated to all applicable personnel. Develop reports and briefing papers on all health, safety and fire safety matters including the development and analysis of statistical information. Communicate health, safety and fire safety information and lessons learned to all relevant stakeholders as required. Ensure all accidents, incidents and near misses are reported in a timely fashion in accordance with managing agents requirements, assist with statutory reporting and conduct investigations as required and take any appropriate action that may be necessary to prevent reoccurrence. Provide support in collaboration with project teams during the shop fit process and provide input at the design stage on health, safety and fire safety matters Deliver measurable cultural and behavioural change in relation to health and safety and fire safety performance across the centre by acting as the go to person in their specialist area Completion of fire safety & Health & Safety audits and compliance inspections of landlord's areas, tenants' demises and tracking of actions to resolve nonconformance with legislation and company policy and procedures. Develop strong, positive & proactive relationships with local EHO & other local authority agencies. Management of health & safety systems including but not limited to info-exchange & processes to support ISO certification. Act as duty manager as required and provide exceptional customer service at all times, including when interacting face to face with customers and dealing with customer enquiries and complaints.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience



Results driven, people manager with demonstrable working knowledge of Health & Safety / compliance/ Quality Assurance / Environmental /Fire Safety and Business Continuity management within the commercial / property / retail sectors, demonstrating the ability to drive a culture of continuous improvement.


Essential:


Qualified to NEBOSH diploma level or equivalent. Recognised fire safety qualification i.e. NEBOSH Fire Certificate or equivalent. Membership of a relevant professional body at a grade that clearly demonstrates the level of qualification and experience required i.e. CMIoSH, MIIRSM etc. Demonstratable experience of managing and operating at a senior level within a fast paced environment. The ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholder at all levels. Capable of managing change quickly and efficiently whilst maintaining compliance to all relevant legislation, guidance and best practice. Ability to work well with others, make clear decisions and continue to deliver results under pressure. A pragmatic approach and a sense of teamwork. Be able to demonstrate excellent skills in organisational ability, oral and written communication, report and document writing and presentations to senior management teams and the workforce. Ability to manage and prioritise own and centre specific work to meet targets and deadlines. Demonstrate the ability to interpret legislation, guidance and best practice. A good working knowledge of IT systems. Demonstratable experience of maintaining ISO standards including ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.

Desirable:

Vetting and SIA non front-line licence. Previous experience working for a high-profile company in the retail / hospitality sector. Ability to design and develop service delivery in line with strategic business objectives.

Working Hours - 40hrs - including weekend Duty Management (on a rota basis)


Salary - Up to 60,000
