Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the Substance Misuse team at HMP Lindholme, a Category C male adult prison based in Doncaster, with operational capacity of around 900.
This is a crucial role within the healthcare team, making a real difference to patients, and delivering outstanding care. This role offers excellent developmental opportunities and is a great environment to build on your experience and gain new skills!
This role sits within our Substance Misuse team, where no 2 days are ever the same!
This role is being offered on a 12 month fixed term contract.
Hours:
This is a full time role, 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8am - 4pm.
Salary:
This position is full time , you'll receive an annual salary of up to 29,723 per annum - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing
As our new Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:
  • Carry out all aspects of patient screening - venepuncture, ECGs, urine samples, vaccinations and immunisations as required
  • Be involved in the implementation of clinical care packages, phlebotomy and assessment, treatment and the evaluation of patients care
  • Support the Substance Misuse Nurses with all aspects of care
  • You will primarily be working within the Substance Misuse team, although may be required to carry out duties in the primary care or mental health teams, as well as second checking as needed
  • Support Nurses in association with the patient and in accordance with instructions and training received whilst promoting safe patient care and be willing to develop and apply new skills to maintain and enhance clinical service delivery

Our new Healthcare Assistant will:
  • Hold a NVQ Level 2/3 qualification in Health & Social Care, or equivalent
  • Have experience within substance misuse / recovery
  • Have experience in a clinical care setting previously - ideally from a hospital or prison setting
  • Ideally have clinical experience - venepuncture, ECGS, wound care etc
  • Have a non-judgemental and compassionate approach
