We are recruiting an experienced healthcare assistant for a permanent position for a busy private clinic specialising in Dermatology and associated specialities
JOB PURPOSE
TO WORK EFFICIENTLY WITH THE MULTIDISCIPLINARY TEAM WITHIN THE BELFAST SKIN CLINIC TO DELIVER SAFE, EFFECTIVE CARE TO PATIENTS IN A CLINICAL ENVIRONMENT
TO PARTICIPATE IN THE ASSESSMENT, PLANNING, IMPLEMENTATION AND EVALUATION OF CARE
TO ENSURE CONTINUITY OF CARE FOR PATIENTS PRIMARILY WITH DERMATOLOGICAL CONDITIONS AND ASSOCIATED CONDITIONS
TO ENSURE RQIA MINIMUM STANDARDS AND INDEPENDENT HEALTHCARE REGULATIONS (NI 2005) ARE COMPLIED WITH
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Professional and clinical knowledge
Provide, promote and participate in the delivery of safe, effective nursing care for patients in your allocated area of duty - theatres or outpatients
Assist the Consultants during procedures
Assist patients as required and chaperone as needed with the Consultants
Perform all aspects of relevant nursing care for patients working alongside the healthcare professionals and assist the nursing team with any duties as directed
Obtain phlebotomy samples or tissue specimens as directed and take responsibility for careful and correct collection and labelling of specimens
Maintain accurate nursing records after every intervention and update e-clinic (computerised record) as necessary on patient care delivered
Ensure patients and carers have sufficient relevant verbal and written information following their procedure
Ensure patients have an appointment made for suture removal/dressing change if required (either at own Health Centre or Belfast Skin Clinic) and review appointment with their Consultant in the clinic before leaving the building
Work within professional codes of practice and guidelines
Report any complaints, concerns or discrepancies to the Nurse Manager as soon as possible and document accurately
Professional Requirements
Ensure all mandatory training requirements are met including CPR, Manual handling, Infection Prevention and Control, Safeguarding Adults and Children, Anaphylaxis and Fire Safety
Be willing to undertake further additional or specific training as necessary to assist in procedures within the clinic
Maintain responsibility for ongoing continuing professional development and updating competencies
Participate in the annual appraisal process and Clinical Supervision
Maintain personal and professional responsibility to report abuse or poor practice that may affect a safe environment for any patient, visitor or staff member

ESSENTIAL
QUALIFICATIONS
HAVE OBTAINED AT LEAST 5 GCSE'S OR EQUIVALENT TO GRADE C (INCLUDING MATHS AND ENGLISH)
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
HEALTH & SOCIAL CARE, VENEPUNCTURE AND VITAL SIGNS RECORDING QUALIFICATIONS WILL BE CONSIDERED AN ADVANTAGE
ESSENTIAL PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
AT LEAST 2 YEARS HEALTHCARE EXPERIENCE AT BAND 3/4
DESIRABLE PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
WORK IN A DERMATOLOGY WARD, OUTPATIENT DEPT, THEATRES OR TREATMENT ROOM WILL BE CONSIDERED AN ADVANTAGE
NURSING SKILLS:
ESSENTIAL NURSING SKILLS
SKILLS RELEVANT TO THE SPECIALITY WITH A GENERAL INTEREST IN DERMATOLOGY
DESIRABLE NURSING SKILLS
EXPERIENCE OF TOPICAL DERMATOLOGICAL TREATMENTS FOR ADULTS AND PAEDS, MINOR OPS, POST-OP WOUND CARE
PERSONAL QUALITIES:
ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE EXCELLENT VERBAL AND WRITTEN COMMUNICATION
TEAM WORKER WITH A COLLABORATIVE APPROACH, WELL ORGANISED AND EXCELLENT TIME KEEPER, ABILITY TO USE OWN INITIATIVE
