Goring-on-Thames

and set in 20 acres of ancient woodland, there are two main buildings on a single site - Flint House and Flint Fold.

We currently have an excellent opportunity for

Healthcare Assistant

to join our Nursing team.

Hours of work:

37.5 hrs Monday to Friday - Day shifts from 08.00 to 20.30 and night shifts from 20.00 to 08.30 on a four-week rota basis (One week of four nights, three weeks of three days).

Purpose



To assist and support patients to access and fully utilise the rehabilitation facilities available, including health promotion and treatments To ensure that patient, staff and public safety is protected by adhering to Flint House Police Rehabilitation policies and procedures.

Main Duties



Working as a member of the Health Care Team, (comprised of Wellbeing Practitioners and Registered Nurses) in welcoming new patients on admission day: giving out information, assisting patients with settling into their rooms or orientating themselves to Flint House. Carrying out a basic clinical assessment for patients, obtaining a set of baseline observations to ensure that the patient's blood pressure, pulse and weight are within set parameters. As recommended by the clinical teams, to ensure treatment is appropriate and safe. Documenting clearly and in a timely manner the details of all patient interactions and patient care on the electronic notes systems 'Pathway' and 'Fitnote' in accordance with Flint House Police Rehabilitation policies and procedures. Computer skills: Processing all electronic application forms from prospective patients and identifying those requiring further action: This includes contacting patients who indicate health issues and flagging up concerns to the Health and Wellbeing Practitioners and Registered Nurses and other clinical teams. Health checks; working with patients during to help them address any lifestyle issues that may be impacting their health. Testing patient's urine or fasting blood sugars, documenting the test results. Following up any cause of concern with the Health and Wellbeing Practitioners and Registered nurses or other clinical teams. Responding to any physical needs of patients, working alone or with the Health care team, using initiative but able to keep within the boundaries of competency; administering first aid, dealing with medical emergencies, resuscitation, and assisting dependent patients, to ensure patient safety throughout the period of treatment. Running Relaxation sessions, presenting various workshops or classes such as Men's Health Women's Health to groups of patients as required. Ensuring that designated equipment in clinical areas and patient bedrooms are cleaned weekly in line with the Flint House Police Rehabilitations infection control policy and procedures

Essential



Clinical Skills and/or NVQ Health & Social Care 3 or equivalent Experience of caring for adults holistically in a variety of environments Working knowledge of infection control policies and procedures Satisfactory DBS clearance Respect for the Police Service and police officers both serving and retired

Own transport is essential

Desirable



Confidence in person centred care planning and experience with working autonomously Understanding of Data Protection regulations and confidentiality requirements surrounding any sensitive personal data Experienced in the use of computers Microsoft Outlook competent and confident using computerised medical note systems. Positive 'can do' attitude, initiative and interest in health promotion and previous experience of health education. Understanding the importance of promoting good mental health, having a working knowledge of mindfulness and relaxation practices.
