We have an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join our Early Days in Custody team at HMP Thameside, a category B prison located in London. HMP Thameside is a male prison with a capacity for 1232 inmates. We are recruiting for a Healthcare Assistant to support the wide healthcare team. Early Days in Custody is the first 14 days that a patient is in prison and you will be doing tasks such as observations, screenings, clinics and bloods.
Hours Monday - Friday 0800 - 1600 or 0900 - 1700
Salary
This position is full time, youll receive an annual salary up to 32,134 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
As a Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. You will

• Support the registered nurse in implementing an agreed plan of care in association with the patient and in accordance with instructions and training received whilst promoting safe patient care
• Be willing to develop and apply new skills to maintain and enhance clinical service delivery.

Qualifications required

• NVQ level 2/3 or equivalent in Health and Social Care
• A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
• Excellent communication skills
• Good IT skills and IT literacy
• Ability to work within a busy environment
• Ability to work unsupervised whilst following policy and procedures

Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment
