We have a fantastic opportunity for a Substance Misuse Healthcare Assistant to join the team at HMP Wealstun, a busy category C male training and resettlement prison near Wetherby.
This is a crucial role within the healthcare team, making a real difference to patients, and delivering outstanding care. Hours:
This is a full time role, 37.5 hours per week, working Monday to Friday, 8am - 4pm.
Salary:
This position is full time , you'll receive an annual salary of up to 28,690 per annum - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing
As our new Substance Misuse Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

• Be involved in the implementation of clinical care packages, phlebotomy and assessment, treatment and the evaluation of patients care
• Work from an appointment ledger, reviewing patients across the SMS service, including methadone, drug use and withdrawal
• Carry out reception duties, reviewing new patients to the prison and assessing, including obvs, urine samples etc
• This role will support the SMS NMP team in delivering medication and care to our substance misuse patients.
• You will primarily be working within the clinical substance misuse team, although may be required to carry out duties in the primary care team
• Respond to emergency situations as necessary

Our new Healthcare Assistant will:

• Hold a NVQ Level 2 / 3 in Healthcare
• Ideally have experience of bloods, obs, ECGS, venepuncture etc
• Have experience in a care setting previously - ideally from a hospital or prison setting, experience within A&E would be beneficial
• Any experience in substance misuse or mental health would be a bonus!
• Have a non-judgemental and compassionate approach - we want someone who really cares about others, and wants to make a difference
