• To plan, prepare and perform a range of standard and highly specialist neurophysiological investigations on a diverse range of patients as required.
• To adapt above investigations depending on findings together with other investigations to optimise patient outcomes.
• Analysis and preparation/editing of data for interpretation by senior colleagues.
• Carry out training and assessment of undergraduate and postgraduate student clinical physiologists as defined by NSHCS and other healthcare professionals.
• Contributes to the development of evidence-based practice to include departmental/ regional audits and development of departmental protocols.

To work as an effective member of the team to ensure that the patient is central to all that we do and that services are run smoothly and efficiently.
Consideration will be given to registered band 6 staff wishing to progress through an internal period of training.
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***
Main duties of the job
The neurophysiology department has a vacancy for a band 7 advanced Clinical Physiologist or Healthcare Scientist with experience in performing and reporting a wide range of investigations.
The department provides services to a wide range of patients across out- patient and in-patient settings with referrals coming from across the southwest peninsula. The department is well established, performing a wide range of specialised and highly specialist investigations on adults and children.

The team are friendly, enthusiastic and committed to providing the highest quality care, working closely with our colleagues across the Trust including; ophthalmology, neurology, intensive care, paediatrics and neo-natal ICU. There is a focus on the development of individuals as well as team working and supporting each other.
The Trust is a teaching hospital and the department contributes to the education of physiologists as well as medical students, junior doctors and healthcare scientists.

• Proven post qualification demonstrable experience within Neurophysiology
• Developed proven knowledge of a range of neurophysiological procedures, underpinned by procedural and theoretical proven knowledge and relevant practical demonstrable experience.

Desirable

• Familiarity with local patient information management systems (LDD modules to support neurophysiology).

Qualifications
Essential

• Clinical Physiology Degree or equivalent and certification in professional competence e.g. ECNE board/ANS part I etc. Equivalent exams from overseas will be considered.
• Plus post graduate proven knowledge/ demonstrable experience to MSc level or equivalent.
• Equivalent relevant post graduate proven knowledge and demonstrable experience evidenced through CPD.
• Professional registration, Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists or willingness to obtain.
• Recognised work-based assessor's qualification.

Desirable
