We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a healthcare support worker within the TIA clinic.
The TIA clinic is an emergency 'one-stop' clinic which reviews patients with a suspected TIA or minor stroke within 24 hours of referral. Patients can often be in the clinic for several hours whilst they have a variety of tests and investigations. The healthcare support worker is required to work under the direction of the Emergency Stroke Outreach Team (ESOT) to support the patients within the clinic, ensuring they are safe and get to their different appointments on time. It requires good communication skills to liaise and book appointments with different departments, as well as being able to support and reassure patients and their carers.
The healthcare support worker will also work with the Stroke Data Manager to contribute to the inputting of data into SSNAP, the stroke national audit programme, as well as supporting ESOT or the Stroke Unit where required.
This is a role full of variety, working with a dynamic and dedicated team to ensure the best care for our patients.
Main duties of the job
In this role, it is expected to provide direct and indirect care as required under the direction of the Emergency Stroke Outreach Team (ESOT), for patients attending the TIA Clinic.
Working under the direction of the registered health care professional, as a member of the multi-disciplinary team
Planning and organising own workload in conjunction with other staff members.
Support service development to meet the evolving needs of the NHS ensuring efficient and effective use of all resources.
Provide effective high-quality patient/customer care. Monitor and maintain Trust Quality standards.
Communicate with different departments and ensure patient's attend their investigations in a timely manner.
To support with inputting data for the Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme (SSNAP).
Relevant specific training to the role will be provided.
