This is a rare opportunity to join a national utilities leader delivering one of the most ambitious infrastructure programmes in the UK water industry -- part of a multi-billion-pound investment into Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs).


As Project Manager (Major Projects), you'll play a key role in the delivery of 30m+ project packages that contribute to a 1bn+ programme -- securing the future of sustainable water supply while helping to shape projects of national importance.

The Role



You'll oversee the end-to-end delivery of major civil infrastructure projects, from planning and design through to construction, working across multiple functions and external partners.


You'll lead complex project packages within larger strategic programmes such as:


Strategic Resource Options (SROs) - multi-billion-pound water infrastructure projects + ? Direct Procurement for Customers (DPC) - innovative funding models using private finance ? Development Consent Orders (DCOs) - enabling major, nationally critical construction

Responsibilities



Lead the planning, budgeting, risk, and governance for your assigned workstream Manage 30m+ budgets (with potential to oversee multiple concurrent projects) Coordinate cross-functional teams - engineering, procurement, finance, legal Drive procurement strategy and commercial model development, including PPP/PFI frameworks Engage with regulators, partners, and contractors to ensure compliance and alignment Deliver clear project reporting, milestone tracking, and performance updates Support innovation, sustainability, and stakeholder collaboration throughout the delivery lifecycle

About You



You're a strategic, detail-driven Project Manager with a background in civil engineering, utilities, or large-scale infrastructure. You thrive on managing complexity, coordinating diverse teams, and bringing clarity and leadership to high-value, high-impact projects.


Requirements:


Minimum 5+ years' experience delivering large-scale construction or infrastructure projects Proven track record managing 30m+ budgets Background in utilities, highways, or major infrastructure (not IT infrastructure) Strong knowledge of planning tools (P6 / Primavera desirable) Familiar with PPP / PFI / DPC funding models (preferred) Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and problem-solving skills Proactive, organised, and able to manage ambiguity in fast-moving environments
