Job Description


We require a Supervising Fitter to support our plant yard in Burscough to carry out preparation, repairs and scheduled maintenance of mechanical plant equipment, work to be carried out within the companies procedures and policies, ensuring that the work is carried in a safe, timely and cost effective manner. The individual will be responsible for ensuring all plant repairs are planned, managed and executed so that the requirements of the operational teams are met. The maintenance and repair of heavy construction plant equipment will include (but not limited to):

o Diesel engines including diagrams

o Hydraulics including diagrams

o Electronics including diagrams

o Electrics including diagrams

o Engines & Fuel Systems including diagrams

o Transmissions

o Welding

The successful candidate will drive and manage plant improvements to improve operational safety and efficiency. They will ensure all modifications to plant and equipment are designed and tested prior to their implementation and that all paperwork is kept up to date and provided to the Yard Manager. In addition ensure that all tasks undertake under your supervision are carried out by a competent person and fully risk assessed prior to commencement and that plant and equipment operated in the yard is done by a competent person.

The individual will be based out of our Burscough Yard and will be required to attend sites throughout the UK.

A van will be provided and work will need to be undertaken within the companies procedures and policies, ensuring that the work is carried in a safe, timely and cost effective manner.

Profile

Individuals must have a valid CSCS card and have at least 15 years\' experience of maintaining construction plant and equipment. The individual must be competent at fault finding.

The individual will be required to use their own initiative and judgement in the role. They must know when to refer issues to the site supervisor. They will be both focussed and thorough and have the credibility to advise senior management when something needs immediate redress. They should have a conscientious and caring attitude towards their work and fellow workmates at all times. The individual needs to be capable of communicating ideas and concepts effectively to both their own team and externally.
