Job Details

We have a contract vacancy for an experienced herdsperson or herd manager on an 800-acre family farm just west of Bath in North Somerset.

The farm has 400 pedigree Holstein cows on 3 x milking, yielding 12,000 litres in state-of-the-art facilities comprising a 20 x 40 rapid exit GEA parlour with excellent handling facilities.

Cows are housed year-round in sand cubicles and fed a full TMR with tractor scraping.

All youngstock are retained for replacements and there is a full complement of experienced staff.

The appointed person will be expected to head up the team, manage and participate in all milkings whilst being fully responsible for health visits, calvings, drying off and overseeing foot trimming and AI contractors. This herd is managed to a very high standard which needs to be maintained.

A 4-bedroom house, on site, is available with a competitive salary depending on experience.
