Bristol, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

We are excited to be recruiting for a trainee to join our Heritage team.

Thanks to the National Lottery Heritage Fund we are transforming Kingsley Hall - our charity's base and Grade 2listed building - into a welcoming space that will provide training, support and housing for young people who have been homeless, at risk of homelessness or are leaving care.

We are also delivering a 5-year Activity Programme which explores the history of the building and relevant themes, through creative heritage projects and an Education, Employment and Training, and Volunteer programme providing skills, knowledge and experience linked to the heritage sector.

As part of this exciting project, we are pleased to offer a 6-month trainee role, with a focus on supporting the development of our Heritage Education, Employment and Training programme.

Please find full details of how to apply via our website in the advert below. The deadline for application submissions is 23:59 on 22 January 2026.

NB We will close applications for this opportunity when we have received sufficient applications, as these posts have previously been very popular.

We are striving to better represent the young people we support and therefore are particularly keen to increase applications from minoritized ethnic groups, and male candidates as they are currently under-represented in our organisation. We also encourage applications from people with relevant lived experience.

If you need an adjustment to be made to any part of the recruitment process, please let us know as soon as possible.

Who are we?

We are a leading youth homelessness charity based in the Southwest, working with over 1,500 young people. At 1625ip we are driven by Social Justice and Passion: we strive to do something that matters and take pride in seeing the results of our work in social outcomes and improving young people's lives.

What you will be doing:

Using your ability to connect with what Young People might need or want, and empathetic communication you will be supporting the development of the Heritage Education, Employment and Training programme to create more opportunities for Young People. Being proactive and with a positive, confident approach to reaching out to contacts, you will network with the heritage craft, trade and maintenance industries. Enjoying learning from others and undertaking detailed research about what's already out there, you will liaise with colleges and training programmes and develop professional communication skills. For example, you might integrate the Historic England skills builders into our offer. Widening project planning skills, and an attention to detail, risk management and tailoring opportunities you will set up tasters, trips and work experience opportunities for Young People. Working alongside your team and being a positive presence in the room, you will support the training of employers and providers. You will have the opportunity to develop creative skills and combine this with an approach to inclusivity and accessibility. You will have the chance to take responsibility for the creation of Education, Employment and Training resources and content for Young People.

You will be in the Heritage Team, which sits within our Routes Team and your manager will be The Senior Heritage Activities Co-ordinator.

At 1625ip we are led by our Competency Development Framework. This connects our values to our behaviours in everything we do and gives us the tools to develop. The framework ensures our recruitment is better informed, applications and interviews are behaviourally based and job profiles are developed on the 'how' of a job.

No prior experience? No problem! We believe in your potential and are committed to providing training and support to help you thrive. If you have transferrable skills, relevant lived experience or a willingness to learn, and you are interested in this role but you are worried about the application process, please get in touch with us.
