Job Description

J Medler Haulage Co Ltd are currently looking for class 1 Hiab HGV driver to transport and deliver goods and building materials across the UK using our modern fleet of units. We move mostly building products in the form of bricks and blocks but we also transport steel and timber using flatbed and hi-ab units. If you enjoy working by yourself, want a job that makes use of your driving skills and one that can take you all over the country and don't mind 3-4 nights out per week, this could be the role for you. Please be aware we're ideally looking at applicants with hi-ab experience. Either current or expired certs. But training can be provided. CPC courses are provided and paid for, hiab training is provided and paid for, on site shower and welfare facilities for HGV drivers. Weekend work is very rare. We don't believe driving personal should be asked to work weekends.

Apart from driving, your duties would include: Using hi-abs, planning delivery schedules and routes with transport managers supervising or helping to load and unload goods making sure loads are safely secured following traffic reports and changing your route if necessary completing delivery paperwork using phone applications and log books You may also deal with basic routine maintenance, such as oil, tyre and brake checks.

The ideal skills and qualifications we would be looking for:

Excellent driving skills The ability to work alone and concentrate for long periods A polite manner with customers, when picking up or dropping off loads A good understanding of safety, on the road and when loading and unloading The ability to complete record sheets and paperwork accurately Good knowledge and use of mobile phone apps A reasonable level of fitness to work with loads To be trustworthy and reliable On average 3/4 nights out a week Hgv class one licence with a max of 6 points Cpc licence Hiab ticket (current or expired) Have a current digi card Have good knowledge and follow the working time and driving time directives
