Role Overview

As a

Class 1 (C+E) Driver

, you'll be responsible for the safe and efficient transport of full loads using curtain-side and box trailers. Working night shifts, you'll ensure deliveries and collections are completed on time, representing P W Gates with professionalism and care. This role is ideal for drivers who enjoy independence and take pride in maintaining high standards of safety and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out full-load haulage work using curtain-side and box trailers.

Ensure all goods are loaded, secured, and transported safely in line with company and legal standards.

Perform daily vehicle checks and report any defects promptly.

Maintain accurate records using a digital tachograph and follow driver's hour's legislation.

Communicate effectively with the transport team to ensure smooth night-time operations.

Represent P W Gates professionally at all delivery and collection points.

Essential Criteria

Full HGV Class 1 (C+E) Driving Licence.

Valid Driver CPC and digital tachograph card.

Maximum of 6 penalty points (no IN or DR codes).

Experience operating curtain-side or box trailers.

Excellent understanding of drivers' hours and road safety regulations.

Professional, reliable, and safety-focused approach to work.

Desirable Criteria

It would be an advantage if candidates also have:

Previous night trunking or long-distance driving experience.

Familiarity with PDA's (Personal Digital Assistant Scanner's) and vehicle telematics systems.

Experience handling paperwork such as delivery notes, manifests and PODs.

A strong geographical knowledge of the UK road network.

Flexibility to adapt to changing routes, schedules, or operational needs.

A positive attitude and commitment to high customer service standards.
