We are a light haulage firm operating 18T trucks with a sleeper cab.

Job description

This position is Monday to Friday with the odd Saturday drive in, working as a haulage courier. Maximum drops in a day would 2 to 3 (we do not do multi drop).

You will be required to drive an 18T vehicle, collecting and delivering a variety of items such commercial items such pallets. You will be responsible for safe loading securing and unloading plus adhering to driving laws and driving in a safe manner.

The role will require you to have regular contact with the customer / client and provide exceptional customer service, whilst ensuring that items are delivered safely.

General hours are around 50hrs per week (Paid hourly).

You should expect up to 4 nights per week out tramping and there is an additional night premium for this.

Key Responsibilities and accountabilities:

Supervise the loading of vehicles so that items are safely loaded and secured for transit and to minimise the chances of damage.

Drive the vehicle safely and in accordance with the law.

Drive within tachograph laws and driver hour limits.

Look after the vehicle and ensure that it is not subjected to unnecessary damage.

Comply with fuel directives issued by the Transport Manager.

Maintain the cleanliness of the driving cab.

Ensure that on arrival the collection /delivery is safe to make and respect customer's property; if in doubt, consult with customer and/or line manager.

Report any accidents as soon as possible and in compliance with the company's accident reporting procedure.

Complete vehicle daily inspection sheet and give to line manager.

Provide excellent customer service at all times.

To operate lifting and loading aid in accordance with the correct procedures.

Be aware of the vehicle inspection rota for servicing and MOT and bring to the attention of the Transport Manager if necessary.

Attend essential training in order to carry out your role.

To provide support in the Yard as required by the line Manager.
