Due to retirement we are looking to recruit a responsible senior driver to work in our small logistics team. This role represents a rare opportunity within the premium heritage automotive industry and would suit an independent, organised and conscientious individual who is keen to become part of the future of our renowned company.
Responsibilities:
As our principal HGV Driver [of our 2021 Mercedes Atego twin deck covered 2 car transporter] you will primarily be responsible for the daily movement of vehicles between Aston Workshop, supplier's premises and customers homes both locally and nationally. To many of our customers you will be the only employee they will meet in person and therefore as our Customer Service Delivery Specialist you will need to maintain a high standard of customer service and professionalism at all times. You will be personally responsible for the careful handling of customers cherished vehicles and this is to be undertaken in a respectful and competent manner.
Primarily this is a day shift based role as the majority of vehicle movements take place during these hours, some overnight stays are required, on average 1-2 nights per week (overnight supplement payable for nights away). It is a requirement to be flexible and work more that 40 hours a week when transport functions are busy, this will be awarded as time in lieu during more quiet times. Aston Workshop is open Monday to Friday however on occasion weekend work is required, for example to attend car shows and events. However, there is need for flexibility to ensure that operational needs are met and most importantly of all the HGV Driver is legally compliant with their hours. There may be the need for additional hours to meet with the business needs however these would be notified in advance.
Key Duties include:
Carefully loading and unloading valuable classic and prestige vehicles on and off the company's covered transporters
Checking and recording condition records prior to collection and deliveries
Taking record photographs as required
To complete a daily vehicle check to ensure the vehicle is roadworthy and report any defects
To ensure all cars are loaded safely onto the vehicle without damage
All legislation / paperwork duties concerning the vehicle's Tachograph is complied with
All vehicles are to be kept in immaculate condition, clean and presentable
Communicate any complaints or comments made by the customer
To drive in a responsible manner complying with all current road transport regulations at all times.
Any other reasonable duties as directed by the Transport Management Team.
Person Specification:
Full, clean Driving Licence (HGV Class 1) driving 15 Tonne 2 car transporter plus occasional trailer
Min 3 years experience of HGV driving + Valid Driver CPC
Good driving skills and knowledge of current regulations
Polite, courteous, respectful and helpful.
