We are seeking a skilled HGV Technician to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and experience in the maintenance and repair of heavy goods vehicles. This role requires proficiency in various technical skills, including fabrication, welding, and electrical work, to ensure our fleet operates efficiently and safely.
Duties
Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on HGVs to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Perform diagnostics using schematics and electrical systems to identify faults and implement effective solutions.
Execute fabrication tasks, including welding and soldering, as required for repairs or modifications.
Utilise hand tools and power tools for assembly and equipment repair tasks.
Maintain accurate records of work performed, including parts used and time spent on each job.
Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding vehicle issues and repairs.
Assist in the training of junior technicians as needed, sharing knowledge of best practices in vehicle maintenance.
Perform heavy lifting as necessary when handling components or equipment during repairs.
Requirements
Proven mechanical knowledge with experience in HGV maintenance and repair.
Proficiency in fabrication techniques, including welding and soldering.
Strong electrical experience with the ability to read and interpret schematics.
Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and equipment repair processes.
Experience operating excavators and forklifts is advantageous.
Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering high-quality workmanship.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
