About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Full-time HGV Technician to join our dynamic team. As an HGV Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing our fleet of heavy goods vehicles, ensuring they are safe, reliable, and compliant with all relevant regulations. This position requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence in vehicle maintenance.



Key Responsibilities

Perform routine maintenance and repairs on a wide range of heavy goods vehicles, including trucks, trailers, and specialized equipment Conduct thorough inspections and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues Carry out repairs and replacements of faulty components, systems, and parts Perform preventive maintenance tasks according to manufacturer specifications and company schedules Conduct MOT preparations and assist with MOT testing procedures Inspect, maintain, and repair tail lift systems on various types of vehicles Use diagnostic equipment and software to identify and troubleshoot complex issues Maintain accurate records of all work performed, parts used, and time spent on each job Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies at all times Collaborate with other technicians and team members to complete tasks efficiently Provide technical advice and support to drivers and other staff members Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in HGV technology and maintenance techniques

Qualifications and Requirements

Proven experience as an HGV Technician or in a similar role NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent qualification Valid driving license with C+E category (preferred) Thorough understanding of HGV systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and software Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations in the automotive industry Experience with tail lift systems and their maintenance Familiarity with MOT standards and testing procedures Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship Ability to work independently and as part of a team Good communication skills, both verbal and written Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends when required
