Starting from 23,748 with annual progression through the scheme duration
What you will be doing:
The scheme encompasses the Level 5 Air Traffic Control Officer apprenticeship combined with Unit training, such that you complete the UK 2015/340 Rating at the end of the third year.
You will be undertaking a structured programme of development consisting of both on the job learning and professional training, through which you will learn to direct aircraft on the ground and through UK Airspace. By the end of the scheme you will achieve full occupational competency in a supervised live traffic environment.
Throughout the 3 years of the scheme, your time will be split between the Warton site and extensive periods away at the apprenticeship provider's location in Gloucestershire.
In the final 3 months of the apprenticeship element of the scheme, you will complete an End Point Assessment, where you'll undertake a practical assessment and an oral assessment in front of an assessor to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and behaviours that you've developed throughout the apprenticeship. Upon completion of both the apprenticeship and your Unit training at BAE Systems - Warton, along with achieving validation, you will be a qualified ATCO with the ability to provide an Aerodrome service. Our continuous development process means that you will then have the ability to add further ratings to your licence and provide different types of service (e.g. radar).
What Qualification will you get?
A UK (CAA) ATCO Licence with one Rating in Aerodrome Control (ADI/ADV) issued in accordance with UK (EU) 2015/340
A Unit Endorsement (TWR) of your Aerodrome Control rating allowing for the ability to provide ATC Services at Warton
A Met Observers Certificate (issued by the UK Met office) allowing you to undertake Meteorological Observations for the purpose of aviation safety
