We seek to appoint a committed and dynamic Higher Level Teaching Assistant to work with specific children throughout the whole school. Our teaching and support staff work hard and enthusiastically as one team with the belief that every student can succeed and transform their life chances, achieving more than they dreamt possible. You will be able to enthuse and motivate our students with your passion for learning, your presence and personality.
This position will involve supporting our pupils, specifically within the SEN Department across both KS3 and KS4. Therefore, we would only shortlist applications with expertise in this area.
The successful candidate will specifically support pupils with Neurodiversity (ND) and who have been or are in the process of being referred to the ND Pathway. At present this accounts a significant number of our pupils in Years 7-11. The HLTA (SEN/ND) would manage and develop a bespoke programme of interventions and work alongside teachers and other support staff to ensure neurodivergent pupils were fully able to access learning and supported with behaviour techniques. They would be the ND expert within school supporting all stakeholders.
The HLTA would also have a pivotal role in working with our team of Classroom Support Assistants / TA's to advise on appropriate deployment and use of specialist resources/equipment/techniques to support this key group of pupils. They would ensure that Student Support Plans and EHCPs are reviewed and monitored, with the required adaptations and support implemented consistency across all areas of school life.
The successful candidate will be required to provide academic, emotional and social support to young people to help them overcome barriers to learning, ensuring that individual pupils engage more effectively in learning and participating in the life of the school. Candidates will have the ability to identify specific barriers and implement a range of strategies to support both basic skills and access to the curriculum.
