This is an opportunity for a dietitian with innovation and drive to continue to deliver and develop the specialist dietetic service for the paediatrics and teenage and young adults (TYA) . We are looking for an enthusiastic dietitian with oncology and/or paediatric experience and a specialist interest in adolescents and young people

Your role:

To continue to develop the high quality, specialist evidence based dietetic service for paediatrics, adolescents and young people working alongside existing staff Responsibility for provision of education, audit and research within the service in conjunction with senior staff and AHP colleagues. Management of own clinical caseload in both TYA and paediatrics.

Provide the Royal Marsden Hospital with an effective and flexible nutrition and dietetic service to Children, Teenage and young adults (TYA) in and out patients unit. The post holder will be expected to deliver diet and nutritional support, hold discussions regarding complementary therapies, help support children and young people with growth and development, and promoting health being after treatments. To manage own complex dietetic clinical caseload in Paediatric Oncology / Heamato-oncology and support the caseload management of the rotational Band 6 working in this specialist area of practise. The post holder will take part in clinics, mdt meetings, ward rounds and case conferences.



The unit is a JACIE accredited haematological transplant centre with the dietitians providing support to patients before, during and after transplant. The post has a remit to contribute to the delivery of education and training to nursing and medical staff in the service and across the South Thames and South East Network, to contribute to audit ( including MDT projects) and represent the unit at national and international meetings and conferences.

Work autonomously to provide expert advice to patients, carers and clinicians based on clinical evidence. This will involve



nutritional diagnosis (interpretation of biochemistry, anthropometrics, clinical condition and analysis of diet history) the development of treatment plans (calculation of nutritional requirements and client centred goals) determining route of feeding i.e. oral, enteral or parenteral prescription of dietary treatment for conditions where there are limited professional guidelines

The post-holder should be a skilled practitioner, who is a source of knowledge and expertise for less experienced colleagues, patients, carers and members of the multidisciplinary team. They will supervise band 6 dietitians within the dietetic department. They will be part of a highly specialist oncology dietetic service. To provide clinical supervision and training to other dietitians and assistants working in the specialist area.
