Highly Specialist Orthotist

Job Description

This role requires a dynamic and adaptable clinician who can work independently and collaboratively. The post holder will be responsible for delivering high-quality orthotic care across a range of clinical settings.



As part of Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, the successful candidate will be expected to work across multiple hospital sites, providing services in both acute and community environments.



To meet the demands of the role, the post holder must be independently mobile, with the ability to travel between locations across the Health Board area. This includes attending clinics, inpatient visits, and home visits where necessary.



Flexibility, excellent time management, and strong communication skills are essential to ensure continuity of care and effective service delivery.



Manage a highly specialist clinical caseload, providing expert orthotic assessment and treatment across a range of patient groups and conditions.



Provide supervision, mentorship, and clinical leadership within the orthotics team, supporting the development of junior staff and students.



Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT), contributing to integrated patient care and shared decision-making.



Participate in the delivery of training and education, both within the department and to wider healthcare professionals.



Engage in research, development, and clinical audit activities to support evidence-based practice and service improvement.



Design and lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and service efficiency.



The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
