JOB SUMMARY:The post holder will have significant clinical input into the clinical aspects of the Haematology and Oncology services, in order to provide a high quality, efficient pharmacy service to patients and staff within C&W.They are expected to lead by example in the specialisms of oncology, haematology and palliative care and ensure a consistently high quality clinical pharmacy service is delivered to these patients and other clinical areas that utilise technical services products, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.The post holder will deputise for the Lead Divisional Pharmacist for Haematology, Oncology and Technical Services in their absenceAlthough this post is based at the Chelsea site, the post holder will be involved in working collaboratively across site and will be required to attend meetings at the West Middlesex site or work from West Middlesex site occasionallyMain duties of the jobKey Working Relationships:

You will manage the specialist Pharmacy Technical Services Unit, which provides a variety of services including the compounding of cytotoxic chemotherapy, supported by our team of pharmacy technicians. You will help to manage cancer clinical trials requiring aseptic preparation and will work closely with the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Manager.In addition to your aseptic background and clinical expertise, you will be well organised and methodical with experience in a range of clinical areas. You will have developed excellent management skills and will work well within a team. You will enjoy teaching, as a commitment to training is an essential part of the role.   • Vocational Masters Degree in Pharmacy + completion of pre-registration training year
  • Registered as a practicing pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Evidence of completion of the following course: Aseptic Preparation & Dispensing of Medicines Course (University of Leeds)
Desirable
  • MSc in Clinical Pharmacy
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy Practice - Oncology Module
  • Evidence of completion of the following courses: oAseptics for Section Managers (London Pharmacy Education and Training) or equivalent Advanced Aseptic Preparation (Kings College Hospital)
ExperienceEssential
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience as a clinical pharmacist practitioner
  • Clinical practice in Cancer Services
  • Delivering training and education at post graduate level
  • Previous accreditation in Intrathecal Cytotoxic Chemotherapy fulfilling the competences for pharmacist addition the Intrathecal register
  • Clinical audit to improve practice
Desirable
  • Experience as an advanced clinical pharmacist practitioner, able to demonstrate a high level of competency (e.g. equivalent to achieving 'excellence' in the majority of competencies in all clusters within the Advanced Level Competency Framework, except R&D, which should be at Foundation level).
  • Dispensing and monitoring clinical trials
  • Experience of managing an aseptic production unit including GMP
  • Experience in management of others
