Highways Site Manager
to oversee day-to-day site operations on a variety of local road schemes.
Role Overview
The
Highways Site Manager
will be responsible for the safe and efficient management of site activities, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required standards of quality and safety. This is a hands-on role that involves close coordination with supervisors, operatives, and local authority representatives.
Key Responsibilities
Manage all on-site operations for highways maintenance and improvement works, including resurfacing, drainage, kerbing, and footway schemes.
Supervise site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure efficient delivery and compliance with specification and safety requirements.
Promote and maintain high standards of
health, safety, and environmental
management in line with company policies.
Prepare and review
risk assessments
,
method statements
, and daily records.
Monitor site progress against the programme, ensuring timely completion and reporting of any issues or delays.
Liaise effectively with clients, local authorities, residents, and other stakeholders to maintain good working relationships and minimise disruption.
Manage site resources, including labour, materials, and plant, to achieve productivity and cost efficiency.
Support commercial and planning teams with site data, valuations, and project documentation.
Qualifications and Experience
Proven experience as a
Site Manager
or
Senior Site Supervisor
within highways maintenance, local authority, or infrastructure works.
Strong working knowledge of
highways construction techniques
,
drainage
,
surfacing
, and
traffic management
.
Thorough understanding of
CDM Regulations
,
Health & Safety legislation
, and quality assurance processes.
SMSTS
certification (Essential).
CSCS (Gold or Black)
and
First Aid at Work
(Required).
NRSWA Supervisor
accreditation (Required).
Full UK driving licence.
Excellent communication and leadership skills with a proactive and solution-focused approach.
