As NY Highways goes from strength to strength, we are looking for experienced and enthusiastic Skilled Operatives to join our team based in Thirsk. Skilled Operatives deliver a wide variety of routine or cyclical works, which can include kerbing, paving and resurfacing footways and carriageways in accordance with our local community's needs.
As a Skilled Operative you will...
Work as part of a team, you will understand and carry out all work to the highest standard whilst following Safety, Health and Environmental policies and risk assessments. This will involve using a range of power tools and equipment and working with different NY Highways employees.
This is the ideal role if you already have similar experience in a Highways maintenance role and looking to join a progressive and forward-looking business that offers training and the opportunity progress in your career.

Deep excavations
Shoring
Drainage Work
Confined Spaces
Re-instatement of both footway & carriageway
Banksman
Manual Handling
Abrasive Wheel
Emergency First Aid
Safe Dig
Valid Driving Licence and HGV/LGV licence is an advantage
NRSWA
Relevant TM 12D
Be able to work within set timeframes
Be motivated be able to work independently and as part of a team.

About NY Highways
NY Highways provides highways services across North Yorkshire and the surrounding areas. From road maintenance to street lighting and road signs and pavement repairs, we operate in close partnership with North Yorkshire Council combining a commercial focus with public sector values including delivering highway civil engineering & infrastructure projects.
We are looking to lead the way in Highway innovation whilst developing and rewarding our workforce. With the responsibility of a network of roads that stretch for almost 5800 miles and a team of around 250 experienced professionals, there isn't much we don't know about highway maintenance.
