Do you want to join a commercial organisation that offers job security and stability?

At NY Highways, we are continuing to grow, and with the help of our people, we are the highways services and maintenance provider of choice to both private and public sector clients across North Yorkshire and neighbouring areas.

We are looking for someone with experience in the highway or construction industry to join our Seamer Carr, Whitby or Kirby Misperton depots as a Supervisor. Our teams are proud to deliver projects that matter such as revitalising town centres in Selby and Ripon, improving flood resilience in Thirsk, and supporting new schools and lifesaving initiatives across North Yorkshire, making a real difference in the communities we serve.

There are other secured projects planned along the East Coast and around Kirby Misperton that you can be involved in, which will see vast improvements made across these parts of North Yorkshire. You will be based from one of these depots, but there will be times when you will be required to work in other areas to support a variety of projects that NY Highways deliver.

Why join NY Highways?

We're a growing, commercially-minded organisation with strong public sector roots. Our partnership with North Yorkshire Council ensures job security, while our expanding private sector workstreams offer variety and challenge. While we work closely with the Council, NY Highways Property is an independent business and not part of the Council itself.

What we can offer you

A competitive salary with annual pay progression Opportunities for career progression including a strong commitment to your training and development, including a variety of courses to support your career growth Generous paid Annual leave starting at 24 days, increasing to 29 days with 5 years' service, plus bank holidays. Other types of paid or unpaid leave to support your family circumstances Use of a company vehicle during the working day Membership of the Royal London pension scheme with Employer contributions Access to a variety of staff benefits including the Vivup scheme, Cycle to work schemes, access to Darlington Credit Union, Death in Service Benefit Access to Occupational Health services, Health cash plan and an Employee Assistance programme Supportive working environment with a range of best practice policies

What you'll be doing:

As a Supervisor, you'll take the lead in overseeing highways operations--ensuring quality, safety, and environmental standards are met across all projects. You'll manage and motivate a team of operatives, subcontractors, and fellow supervisors, ensuring work is delivered efficiently and to a high standard.

Working closely with the Senior Supervisor, you'll coordinate daily operations at the depot, including planning labour, materials, plant, and traffic management to meet streetworks requirements. Your strong organisational skills will help you maintain accurate site and financial records, monitor progress, and forecast spend against project plans.

You'll also play a key role in developing your team--coaching and mentoring colleagues to build capability and support career progression across the workforce.
