Job Role: Hire Controller

Overview:

As a Hire Controller at Express Hire, you will play a key role in coordinating equipment hire operations, acting as the main point of contact for customers. You will handle enquiries, manage bookings, and ensure the efficient supply of plant, tools, and equipment to meet customer needs. This is a customer-focused role that requires excellent organisation, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Handle incoming enquiries via phone, email, and in person, providing hire advice and quotations. Process customer orders, reservations, and contracts accurately on the hire system. Coordinate delivery and collection schedules with drivers and engineers. Advise customers on suitable equipment for their requirements, including operating and safety information. Ensure hire fleet availability is maximised through effective planning and communication with the service team. Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers. Handle customer issues, complaints, and breakdown requests promptly and professionally. Maintain accurate records of hires, off-hires, and contract documentation. Support the managers in achieving targets and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. Promote Express Hire's services in a professional and customer-focused manner.
Skills & Experience:

Previous experience in a hire, logistics, or customer service role (plant/tool hire experience desirable). Strong communication and organisational skills. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks. Good IT skills (hire systems, MS Office, email). Customer-focused with a proactive problem-solving approach. Knowledge of plant, tools, or construction equipment (desirable, but training provided).
