The Heating Engineer is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating systems across residential and commercial sites. The role requires a thorough understanding of a range of heating technologies, together with the ability to identify and resolve faults efficiently. The postholder will ensure all work is completed to a high standard and in full compliance with relevant safety regulations, company procedures, and industry best practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, service, and repair various heating systems, including HIU's, cylinders, radiators, and
underfloor heating
Conduct routine maintenance checks to ensure optimal performance of heating equipment.
Diagnose faults and implement effective solutions to heating-related issues.
Collaborate with clients to understand their heating needs and provide expert advice on system upgrades or replacements.
Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
Adhere and understand RAMS and all health and safety regulations while on site.
Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulations.
Ensure the correct setup, installation, and configuration of heat meters and associated data collection systems (e.g., M-Bus, wireless networks, data loggers).
Carry out on-call duties on a rota basis as required.
Qualifications & Experience:
Relevant qualifications in Heating Engineering or a related field (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Heating and Ventilation).
Experience in installing and maintaining various types of heating systems.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose faults efficiently.
Excellent communication skills for effective client interaction.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Valid driving licence is preferred for travel between job sites.
Knowledge of current building regulations and safety standards is advantageous.
Proficient in using iPads for daily reporting, site documentation, and digital form submissions.
Excellent written communication skills for preparing clear and concise technical reports.
Familiarity with communal/district heating systems and HIUs.
Confident in engaging with residents in person and by phone, with strong communication and customer service skills.
Must be trained and qualified to work on unvented hot water systems
