About the Role
Based at PSI Belfast, the hoist and lifting technician will be a key member of the PSI technical & install services team. The main purpose of the position is to carry out a combination of on site and off site service and maintenance programs for lifting equipment.
Job Summary
PSI Production is seeking a skilled and reliable Hoist and Lifting Technician & Service Engineer to join our growing team. This role involves the maintenance, inspection, and repair of hoisting and lifting equipment as well as installation across a variety of entertainment environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and a commitment to safety and service excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect, maintain, repair and install hoists, and a wide range of lifting equipment.
Carry out load testing, commissioning, and certification of lifting systems.
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults.
Perform scheduled service visits and respond to reactive maintenance calls at customer sites.
Complete detailed service reports, inspection documentation, and customer paperwork accurately.
Ensure compliance with LOLER, PUWER, and other relevant safety legislation and industry standards.
Advise clients on lifting equipment use, maintenance best practices, and potential improvements.
Maintain tools and equipment to a high standard.
Essential Criteria
Qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering to BTEC Level 3.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and engineering drawings.
Solid understanding of safety standards and regulatory compliance related to lifting operations.
Full UK driving license (or equivalent).
Desirable Criteria
Experience working in warehousing, or theatre/event environments.
IT literacy for reporting and documentation.
Experience
Proven experience working with a range of hoists, lifting accessories, and lifting systems.
Familiarity with a variety of lifting gear brands and control systems.
Key Skills
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
Self-motivated and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
