The Council are seeking Holiday Camp Supervisors to work across our Leisure World Colchester and Colchester Sports Park during the school holidays.
Duties of the role
This role supports the Sports and Active Wellbeing Manager in the training and development of camp staff, as well as the ongoing improvement of the Holiday Camp programme and its associated procedures.
As a key member of the Leisure World team, you will play a central role in delivering our junior holiday programme. You will lead, coordinate, and supervise holiday camp staff and daily activities, while contributing to programme development, marketing efforts, and the safe and efficient use of equipment. Maintaining high standards of service delivery, cleanliness, and health and safety will be essential to ensuring a positive and memorable experience for all participants.
Your responsibilities will include managing the registration process for children attending the camps, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and active engagement throughout the day. You will also oversee the setup, correct use, and storage of all equipment. A vital part of the role will be supporting, training, and motivating camp assistants to ensure the programme remains fun, dynamic, and safe for every child involved.
Ultimately, this position plays a crucial part in shaping a high-quality, engaging, and safe holiday experience for all children attending our camps.
Qualifications and skills required
To succeed in this role, you will need strong leadership skills, a solid understanding of customer service, and experience working with both adults and children. You should be confident in motivating staff, demonstrate flexibility and enthusiasm, and show a proactive, solutions-focused approach. A Level 2 qualification in Childcare (or equivalent) is required, or you must be willing to obtain one.
A sound understanding of health and safety, safeguarding, and the wellbeing of children will be highly beneficial.
Experience in delivering sports, games, and recreational activities is desirable, along with relevant sports qualifications and a valid First Aid at Work certificate.
