We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated HCA to provide a home visitng phelbotomy service to patients in their homes . The sucessful candidate must own their own car and be willing to use this for business activaties.
This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to follow protocols effectively.
Duties
:
To take blood samples from patients for laboratory or coag-u-check by way of a venous blood sample or a capillary blood sample
Ensure that all venous blood samples that have been collected are delived within the required timeframe to the lab for processing, any missed samples are recorded and the requesting clinician is notified
Ensure that Requesting clinicians are informed of any failed bleeds and the reason why in accordance with the Phlebotomy/Cerner SOP
Ensure the accurate labelling of blood sample tubes, making sure that the correct labels are placed on the corresponding tube.
Ensure that details of patients latest INR result is recorded accurately both in the patients Anticoagulation Therapy Record Book (yellow book) and the coag-u-check Record log, kept in the anticoagulation clinic
Ensure infection control and hand hygiene protocols and policies are adhered to when delivering care to patients.
Ensure you are updated with the company Safeguarding Policies and procedures and protocols at all times
Ensure that statistical information regarding GP blood tests is accurately recorded onto the data sheet provided if required
Ensure that all Phlebotomy SOP's, policies and procedures (including the correct use of EMIS/INR Star and any other clinical system) are followed and adhered to at all times.
Assist in the ordering, checking, unpacking and storage of stock making sure that it is rotated , thereby ensuring that it never goes out of date and the oldest is used first
Maintain effective communication with colleagues, and patients
Maintain excellent communication with patients and relatives by introducing yourself ("Hello My Name Is") greeting and welcoming them to the department in a warm, courteous and professional manner and ensuring that they are kept informed of any delays to the service.
Ensure that any issues affecting the efficient delivery of the Phlebotomy Service are reported to the Service Manager and Pharmacists
Ensure that all enquiries that cannot be dealt with directly are passed on to the Service Manager and Pharmacists
Requirements
Qualification as Health Care Assistant or Phelbotomist
Must have own car
Full Driving License
Millage paid for
Relevant business car Insurance
Subject to screening, vetting (including references and DBS check)
Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
Ability to follow care plans accurately and with attention to detail.
IT skills for documentation and scheduling tasks.
A caring attitude with a commitment to providing high-quality support to clients in their homes.
