Horticultural Nursery Worker / Grounds Maintenance
Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Nursery Assistant/Grounds maintenance to join an award-winning specialist tree nursery. This exciting opportunity allows you to work with a large range of specimen trees and shrubs while developing your skills in horticulture and contributing to a vibrant nursery environment.
This is a hands-on role, working outside all year and frequently requires heavy lifting tasks throughout the day.
Previous experience in gardening, grounds maintenance, landscaping or horticulture is advantageous.
Must have a reliable and punctual approach. Full time; ready to start at 8:30am to 5:00pm, five days a week including Saturdays.
Responsibilities include:
Nursery Duties
: General nursery work, grounds maintenance, maintaining outdoor display areas, watering, weeding, pruning, fencing, grass & hedge cutting and strimming. Maintaining immaculate nursery environment. Plant care and re-potting.Delivery & Hire:
Assisting with plant deliveries and setting up plant hires as and when needed. Loading delivery vans and trailers. Arranging and setting up plants on location as guided by clients.Client Service:
Provide excellent client service, answering phone calls, taking plant orders and following client instructions.Operations:
Unloading and loading plants. Safely operate a range of gardening equipment including mowers, strimmers and hedge cutters. Monitor and maintain our irrigation system.Garden Maintenance:
Working on-site at clients gardens, including topiary trimming and garden maintenance.Please note: This job description is not exhaustive and may be subject to change.
Skills & Experience:
Experience in horticulture and grounds maintenance.
Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools.
Good physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects regularly throughout the day.
Good communication and client service skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Attention to detail, initiative, and a strong work ethic.
