The caretaker/porter is responsible for looking after the building, making sure it is clean, tidy and secure. The caretaker/porter must undertake the cleaning of the building and ensure that rooms are correctly set up as per requirements and cleared away/reset as required at the end of each day. The security of the building is very important and the caretaker/porter is responsible for locking the premises at night.

Summary



Expected shifts are weekends, hours are variable based on client usage. Some early mornings and late finishes should be expected. Hours are flexible and finish times may be earlier/later to suit the needs of the business.



The caretaker will be required to look after Burnham Park Hall and ensure the following:

To ensure that the building is left clean and tidy and set up ready for the following day at the end of each shift. To provide a visible point of contact for staff, visitors and hirers requiring information or assistance and to ensure that a professional image is presented at all times. Cleaning of the building and contents. To maintain a safe and attractive environment. General small maintenance/DIY tasks as required. Keeping paintwork clean and touches up when needed. Ensuring the courtyard area is kept clean and tidy. To assist in the evacuation of the building in case of emergency. To maintain a good working relationship with other members of the team. To answer the phone and take messages when no other staff members are on site. To conduct basic tours of the hireable spaces as required. To gain a working knowledge of audio/visual systems used within the building. To manage minor incidents such as floods promptly and effectively to ensure minimum loss or damage. Porterage tasks including setting up rooms for hirers. Manage security for the building. The post may require dealing with bodily fluids and a wide range of waste products. Cleaning around the car park and village green as required, ensuring the areas are tidy and signs are clean and clear. Locking up of Jennery Lane public toilets if and when required. Any other duties as requested by any member of the management team. Will be required to be a key holder. Work independently when required.

Be focused and self-motivated. Good communications (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. A flexible approach. A good team player. Be able to multitask.
Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 12.60 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 16 per week
