We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Porter to join our team in providing exceptional service to our guests. As a Porter, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our guests have a pleasant and memorable experience during their stay. You will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of the hotel premises, assisting guests with their needs, and contributing to the overall hospitality of our establishment.
Guest Service
Greet and assist late-arriving guests with a warm, professional welcome.
Support check-ins and early morning check-outs as required.
Help with guest luggage and offer room escort service when appropriate.
Handle overnight guest requests and offer light bar or refreshment service.
Provide wake-up calls and support any early departures with discretion and care.
Security & Safety
Carry out regular internal and external patrols of the property.
Monitor fire exits, access points, and general building security.
Ensure all public and guest areas are safe, secure, and appropriately lit.
Respond calmly and appropriately to alarms, incidents, or guest concerns.
Follow fire safety protocols and complete related checks as scheduled.
Operational & Housekeeping Support
Reset public areas for the following day, ensuring a tidy and welcoming environment.
Replace candles, adjust lighting, and check overall presentation standards.
Carry out light cleaning or maintenance duties as needed.
Prepare for early morning breakfast setup or events if requested.
Maintain thorough records and complete the overnight handover to day staff.
Requirements
A strong sense of responsibility and ability to work independently.
Clear communication skills and strong phone etiquette.
A professional, calm manner with a guest-focused attitude.
Smart personal presentation.
Reliability and flexibility, including availability on weekends and holidays.
A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.
Experience
Previous experience in a hotel, hospitality, or guest services role is preferred but not essential.
Desirable
Awareness of fire safety and emergency protocols (training can be provided).
First Aid knowledge.
Familiarity with heritage properties or luxury guest service environments.
Working knowledge of hotel booking systems or general IT systems.
