Job Description

Bloxham School is looking for a warm, reliable and proactive Matron to join our dedicated boarding team. You will help create a safe, supportive, and homely environment for pupils, working closely with the Housemaster or Housemistress (HsM) to ensure the wellbeing and smooth running of the boarding house. This is a fulfilling role for someone who enjoys caring for others and being part of a vibrant school community.

Key Responsibilities:



Provide daily pastoral care and emotional support to pupils, promoting a welcoming and caring atmosphere. Maintain cleanliness, order and routines within the boarding house, overseeing domestic staff where necessary. Administer basic first aid and liaise with the Palmer Health Centre on medical issues affecting pupils. Communicate regularly with the HsM regarding pupil welfare, behaviour, and any concerns. Support the running of house events and school occasions, helping to create a sense of community.

What We're Looking For:


Essential:



A warm, compassionate personality with a genuine interest in the welfare of young people Good organisational and multitasking skills Basic IT competency Educated to GCSE level or equivalent A practical, hands-on approach and a willingness to work as part of a team

Desirable:



First aid qualification (or willingness to train) Previous experience in a pastoral or boarding setting A full UK driving licence

Working Arrangements:



38 hours per week

The post holder's responsibility will include promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom s/he is responsible, or with whom s/ he comes into contact.
