the Role





The House system is at the heart of life at Oundle. It is in the community of the House that most pupils find the confidence and sense of purpose that lead to fulfilment in the larger community of the School. In providing exceptional pastoral care and guidance to the boarders, the role of House Matron is key.



Working under the direction of the Housemaster/Mistress, your primary role will be to:

supervise and provide care for the pupils, with particular responsibilities for the physical, social and emotional wellbeing and presentation of the pupils in the House. conduct daily surgeries, providing care and supervision of unwell pupils liaise with parents/guardians/staff/medical staff in respect of the wellbeing of the pupils be responsible for the smart appearance of the pupils contribute to life in the House by involvement in House social functions, helping to arrange and participate in trips and events, and supporting pupils in their everyday activities where possible.

The successful applicant will be a House Matron for a boys boarding house.



House Matrons are required to be resident in the Boarding House, with self-contained accommodation available throughout the year and all meals provided on duty days. Many Matrons at Oundle School have family members living in the accommodation with them (subject to safeguarding checks), and pets are welcome. Matrons may expect their working hours per week to be no fewer than 45 and this may be exceeded from time to time.



You will have one 30-hour period off per week in Term time. Due to the nature of the role, you will be required to work for 35 weeks of each academic year, which is made up of Term time (33 weeks) and then time for ensuring the House is prepared and ready to receive pupils at the beginning of each Term plus any special activities, such as planned training.


Salary:

29,262 pro rata (38,797 FTE)


THE SCHOOL





Oundle and Laxton Junior Schools have long been associated with the very best of modern independent education, especially boarding. We are fortunate in our location at the heart of a beautiful market town. School and town are part of the same community and our pupils take their place within this community, not isolated from it. The town has a spirited cultural life, with an annual international festival, literature festival, and frequent performances of nationally touring shows at the School's Stahl Theatre.
