Scope and General Purpose of Job
To ensure high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and guest service are maintained in all guest rooms and public areas assigned. The Room Attendant is responsible for cleaning, stocking, and maintaining checkout, occupied, and vacant rooms, as well as providing turndown service during PM shifts and supporting overnight housekeeping duties when assigned. The position plays a key role in upholding the hotel's quality, comfort, and safety standards.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Sign out master keys and collect daily worksheets, guest arrival/departure information, and required supplies.
Attend daily briefings and communicate important information regarding VIPs, long-stay guests, and special requests.
Clean assigned check-out and occupied guest rooms to the hotel's brand standards including beds, bathrooms, furnishings, and amenities.
Conduct room status checks and complete related reporting documentation as required.
Replenish guest amenities, linens, towels, and room collateral as per room setup guidelines.
Report maintenance issues and missing items promptly to the Supervisor.
Maintain cleanliness in guest corridors, service areas, lift lobbies, stairwells, and pantries.
Remove room service trays and items and return them to appropriate service points.
Ensure proper waste disposal and linen segregation practices are followed.
Maintain and clean housekeeping pantries, carts, and cleaning equipment.
Support spring-cleaning and deep-cleaning tasks as scheduled.
Prepare weekly requisitions for housekeeping supplies in coordination with Supervisors.
Ensure proper use and minimal wastage of chemicals, guest supplies, and linen.
Follow hotel fire, health, hygiene, and safety protocols at all times.
Respond to guest requests within 7 minutes, ensuring professional and courteous service.
Handle and report lost and found items per hotel procedures.
Secure master keys responsibly and maintain confidentiality and security standards.
Attend training sessions and departmental meetings as required.
Cooperate with other departments to ensure seamless guest service delivery.
Shift-Specific Duties
PM / Turndown Room Attendant:
Perform turndown service in allocated guest rooms.
Refresh bathrooms, remove used items, draw curtains, dim lights, and prepare beds for evening use.
Deliver chocolates or amenities as per guest preference and standard
Replenish guest supply baskets and floor pantry stock.
Refill cleaning chemicals and clean the housekeeping caddies.
Conduct floor checks, attend late guest requests, and assist with emergency housekeeping tasks.
Person Specification
Essential:
Previous housekeeping experience in a hotel environment.
Good communication skills and a courteous, guest-focused attitude.
Ability to work independently and within a team.
Physical stamina and ability to lift, push, and pull linen carts and equipment.
Flexible with working hours and shift patterns (including weekends and bank holidays).
High attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and presentation.
Desirable
:
Knowledge of COSHH and safe use of cleaning chemicals.
Experience with sustainability practices in hotel operations.
Familiarity with London hospitality service standards.
