We are looking to appoint a

Housekeeping Team Leader

to supervise staff to achieve the highest possible standard of cleaning to students, staff and visitors.

The hours of work are Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, plus; four Saturdays in the summer holidays (8am to 12.30pm), one Open Day (6am to 9am) and one Prize Day (8am to 4pm) all paid as overtime.

Job objective



To supervise the cleaning and caretaking staff to achieve the highest possible standard of cleaning to students, staff and visitors To undertake cleaning duties as required To undertake House Matron duties (in the Boarding House) if a member of the team is absent. To deputise for Matron in her absence

Main Responsibilities



Day-to-Day Duties:



To be a hands-on Supervisor of the cleaning staff, issuing jobs and checking work To enhance training, productivity, quality and value from the team To carry out cleaning inspections and report the findings to the staff and Matron To control the cleaning cupboards and issue stock and materials To carry out cleaning duties when required, i.e. during staff shortages. This could be in classrooms, public areas or boarding houses

To deputise in Matron's absence by:



Updating the job book and entering jobs on to the database Issuing jobs to, and supervising, the Caretakers in matron's absence Dealing with day-to-day issues Issuing clock cards at the end of the week Liaising with colleagues to ensure requests are dealt with Any other reasonable request of Matron

Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety, security, confidentiality and data protection, relating all concerns to the appropriate person. Be aware of and support difference and ensure equal opportunities for all Appreciate and support the role of other professionals Attend and participate in relevant meetings and training as required Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required

Requirements



Experience



Experience of cleaning in a commercial environment Experience of working in a customer service environment Experience of supervising staff Experience of working in a School or academic environment (desirable)

Skills / abilities / personality



Knowledge and competence in IT and database systems (Word, Excel, Google) Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Initiative to make decisions and recommendations An ability to manage time effectively and prioritise workload Integrity, discretion and confidentiality Ability to work on own initiative Professional and friendly manner Positive attitude and commitment to the job and School Willing to work extra hours if required

If, in the course of carrying out the duties of the post, the post-holder becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the School, they must report those concerns to the DSL or to the Head immediately.
