Housing Advisor For Care Leavers Job description

Full Time, Permanent

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a housing adviser to join Bristol City Council\xe2\x80\x99s Through Care Service. The Through Care Service supports children and young people aged 0-25 and their families, through their journey in care and as care leavers. The post is based at B Bond, Smeaton Road in Bristol in a busy vibrant office.

This post is funded by the Department for Education to reduce homelessness for young people who have left care.

You will work closely with, Leaving Care Personal Advisers, Social Workers, Housing Officers, and partner agencies to achieve positive housing outcomes for 18 \xe2\x80\x93 25-year-old care leavers.

You will combine excellent knowledge of housing legislation and processes with an understanding of the needs and vulnerabilities of care leavers.

Working under the supervision of a Practice Lead you will have oversight of the housing plans for all children leaving care to support transition and pathway planning for young people with additional or more complex needs.

The role will involve working in a creative and respectful way, building relationships with young people and their social and professional networks to ensure timely and well-planned moves so that young people are supported to live in safe accommodation where they feel a sense of belonging.

The role demands a high standard of analytical and communication skills, multi-agency working, problem solving and risk management. You will have excellent organisational skills and an ability to build links with partner agencies and prioritise a complex workload.

You will be confident in facilitating training, and learning events for personal advisers, mentoring, or supervising staff and to be a point of contact for dissemination of specialist housing knowledge across the wider service.

The role will also require you to chair meetings and prepare and present reports to evidence specialist work and impact of this on young people and service delivery.

Please note that this role is subject to an Enhanced DBS Check.
