Temporary until 3rd May 2026, full time, 37 hours per week.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a temporary Housing Occupational Therapist to join Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council in the Housing Options Team to assist in delivering a quality service to people in need of appropriate housing.



Applicants are required to have a current HCPC registration and RCOT membership.

The Housing Options Team are passionate about ensuring customers are appropriately housed and that their long-term needs are met in terms of accessibility and support. If you share this passion and enthusiasm, this could be the job for you.

As a qualified Occupational Therapist, you will be responsible for providing a high standard of assessment with well thought through recommendations for accessible housing. Your role will be fundamental in supporting the allocation and letting of Council properties to ensure that stock is used appropriately and that lettings are sustainable, achieving longevity in tenancies by recommending appropriate minor and major adaptations. In doing so you will be supporting people in being rehoused and providing them with security and enhancing their quality of life.

This varied and interesting role will include planning and undertaking comprehensive assessments of customers' housing needs in a variety of settings including customers' homes, hospital, rehabilitation units, nursing homes, etc., then implementing appropriate interventions to meet those needs. This will include, but is not limited to: housing advice, adaptations; provision of equipment; and referral to other services where appropriate.

Experience in community work, housing adaptations, hospital discharges and mental and physical health with adults and children would be very valuable for this role.

Until 31st March 2026 employees paid at Band D and above are subject to a temporary pay reduction of 1.15% spread out by means of a monthly deduction from each pay period over the full financial year.
