At Thalia Waste Management, we're offering the opportunity to join our friendly People Team as a HR Administrator on a 12-month fixed-term contract, covering a period of maternity leave. This is a fully remote role, with flexibility to work either 4 or 5 days per week.
You'll gain hands-on experience across a wide range of HR activities - from training coordination and onboarding admin, to supporting employee relations work. You'll be guided and developed by experienced professionals and exposed to real-life people challenges in a fast-paced, operational business.
Location: Remote with occasional travel
Salary: 26,000
What You'll Be Doing
Coordinating external training courses: liaising with managers to understand needs, booking courses with providers, and scheduling in diaries
Supporting onboarding administration including contracts of employment and changes to terms
Assisting with employee relations cases (e.g. taking notes during meetings for disciplinaries or grievances)
Updating our HR system (Dayforce) and maintaining accurate employee records
Responding to reference requests and general HR queries
(With support) helping to manage the People Services inbox and responding to questions from employees and managers
Handling sensitive information confidentially and professionally
What We're Looking For
A genuine interest in starting or developing a career in HR
Ideally, you've studied HR (e.g. degree, CIPD, or equivalent), but we're open to passion and potential too
A strong communicator - someone who's comfortable writing emails, speaking with managers, and dealing with external providers
Proactive, organised and able to manage multiple admin tasks with accuracy
Friendly, approachable, and keen to learn
Confident using Microsoft Office and general business systems

We operate the best technology available across our four strategic sites in North Yorkshire, Milton Keynes, Cambridgeshire and the Isle of Wight. Our technology includes everything from mechanical and biological treatment, traditional mass-burn energy from waste and material recycling technologies to in-vessel composting, advanced thermal treatment, innovative small-scale energy from waste and anaerobic digestion. In a single year we process 300,000 tonnes of waste that is turned into energy. This generates the same amount of energy as approximately 600 million solar panels. Similarly we recycle circa 95,000 tonnes of waste.
