Job Description



Role Responsibility

The HR Advisor will provide a high quality HR service to our team members and line managers by supporting them through all aspects of the team members\xe2\x80\x99 lifecycle. The role will play a significant part in supporting the HR Operations team in providing first line support by advising on policy, process, Reward and ER matters in collaboration with all HR specialist teams. As a HR Advisor you will:
  • Build effective working relationships with Team Members at all levels, providing advice and guidance on a range of HR policies and HR related issues to support understanding and ensure effective communication of good HR practice through applying Selfridges policies consistently
  • Provide first line support and advice on employee relations queries including; absence, flexible working, family leave, grievance, and disciplinary processes in line with the company policies
  • Support line managers in their understanding and implementation of policies and procedures, such as probation or managing performance
  • Maintains ER and Selfridges Policy knowledge in order to advise accordingly and using initiative to make suggested changes or improvements where possible
  • Takes ownership to identify potential improvements to HR tools e.g. policy and processes
  • Build a strong collaborative relationship with the specialist functions within the HR team
  • Support the People Strategy through involvement in projects working with HR Operations team and any other key stakeholders to implement key People Projects and annual People activity, such as Talent Reviews

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experienced with a background in a similar fast pace and commercial HR environment
  • Passionate about Retail and People. Ability to think innovatively in regards to people solutions and initiatives
  • Achieves credibility through delivering great service and challenging where necessary
  • Client focussed approach with an ability to work with multiple stakeholders across various functions in order to drive the People Strategy
  • Operates with professionalism and discretion, ensuring confidentiality
  • Ability to solve problems and propose effective solutions
  • Excellent attention to detail with good IT skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
