HR Advisor

I am working with a Public Sector Organisation based in Southwark who are looking for an HR Advisor for 6 months.

The role is full time, to start ASAP and paying up to \xc2\xa322.28 Umbrella per hour. The role is in scope of IR35.

Job Purpose
  • To support & advise HR Managers on employee relations casework as delegated by the divisional HR Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work with the head of Workforce Relations and manage sickness absence levels and improved attendance through the provision of advice and support to line managers. -
  • Provide advice and guidance to managers on all aspects of sickness absence management in accordance with Trust policy and employment legislation including the analysis of sickness absence reports
  • Working autonomously, manage a mixed case load of Long Term Sickness cases, Short Term Sickness cases and Flexible Working Appeals, plus any other relevant employee relations case work as determined by the HR Consultant.
  • To support, coach and micro-train managers in how to be effective in managing sickness absence.
  • Where levels of sickness absence are identified as a cause for concern, advise and support line managers in the conduct of sickness absence interviews as appropriate.
  • Advise on referrals to, and information received from Occupational Health with regard to individuals returning to work.
  • Consider and advise on redeployment, ill-health retirement or termination whilst being mindful of employment legislation and Trust policies
  • To participate in sickness reviews and hearings. Being a member of the sickness absence panels as appropriate, commensurate with the individual\'s experience.
  • To deliver the Trust-wide sickness absence training in conjunction with the HR Consultant as part of the business skills "bite sized" courses or as part of a management development programme, as relevant.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Degree or equivalent level of knowledge
  • Associate member of the CIPD
  • Certificate in Personnel Practice or CIPD Level 3 working towards level 7
  • Knowledge of HR Procedures
  • Experience of working in a front line customer service role.
  • Computer literate, with a demonstrable operating level in Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Highly effective oral/written communications skills.
  • Knowledge of employment law, European directives and best practice.
  • Knowledge of terms and conditions of employment within the NHS.
  • Experience of using ESR or other HR database software.
