About The Role

Hours: Full time (37.5 hours/week) however part time hours considered
Location: Baldock, Hertfordshire

Are you a confident HR professional with strong Employee Relations (ER) expertise? Do you have experience working with unions and coaching managers through complex people issues? If so, we'd love to hear from you.

We're looking for an experienced HR Business Partner to join our team at our hospital in Baldock. This is a hands-on, people-focused role supporting managers and senior leaders across the hospital to drive performance, manage absence, and maintain a supportive and compliant working environment.

What we're looking for:

Solid HR experience at BP level with strong ER knowledge Up-to-date knowledge of HR legislation and best practice CIPD Level 5 qualified Experience working with unions in a formal setting Skilled in coaching, influencing, and supporting senior stakeholders Background in healthcare or mental health is a bonus, but not essential Excellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organisation. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail Respects and embraces diversity; acts with honesty, transparency, and fairness Collaborates effectively with colleagues; brings a positive, supportive attitude, actively listens, encourages input, and values the perspectives of others

What you'll be doing:

Leading on complex ER cases (grievances, disciplinaries, investigations) Working closely with trade unions and staff representatives Coaching and supporting managers on people-related issues Analysing and reporting on sickness, absence, and performance Advising on performance management and workforce planning Championing a culture of wellbeing, accountability, and continuous improvement Work with a passionate, multidisciplinary team making a real difference in mental health care

About Us

Baldock Manor is a 40-bed hospital in north Hertfordshire that provides specialist psychiatric services for adults. The hospital has two female PICU (Psychiatric Intensive Care) wards and two acute wards. Our PICU services provide care and support for women at crisis level with a severe mental disorder who require rapid assessment and stabilisation. Our acute wards care for older adults, usually 55 years or older, who need a short-term hospital stay, where we can stabilise their mental health. The average stay in our acute wards is less than forty days.
