The Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy is looking for an HR Coordinator (Maternity Cover) to manage a comprehensive HR service for all staff to support the effective operation of the department.

Temporary cover: This post is fixed-term for 5 months or the return of the post holder, whichever is earlier. Applications are welcome from internal candidates who would like to apply for the role on the basis of a secondment from their current role at the University.

The Department is based on the West Cambridge site (see for further information).

The person appointed will be the first point of contact for all HR matters in the department and provide advice and guidance to staff.

Key responsibilities include: - Taking the lead on recruitment matters - Providing clear and accurate advice to staff on HR policy and employment relations issues. - Supporting the implementation of strategic HR initiatives, including planning processes and decisions, equality and diversity, well-being and talent management - Provide support regarding visitors and visas in consultation with our Compliance Team - Line management.

You will be experienced in HR in a coordinator, advisor or officer role, have excellent communication skills and a strong work ethic, as well as the ability and motivation to learn new skills and keep abreast of new policy and regulatory changes. You should be able to work autonomously and will benefit from a network of HR Coordinators across the School of Physical Sciences.

We operate a flexible working environment and are open to a range of contact hours and working patterns, including one day working from home. Due to the need to foster a good understanding of the department and build relationships, this role is predominantly office-based.
